Hanping Hu, born in 1960, is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at School of Automation, HUST. His research interests include cyberspace security, pattern recognition and intelligent system.

He is a committee member of the Cryptographic Algorithm Committee of the Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research, chairman of the Chaotic Secure Communication Committee of the Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research.

His is also an expert of safe and reliable application of electronic document at Party and government organs of Hubei Province, and enjoys the special allowance of the State Council.
