On May 20, School of Automation holds the seminar about first-class discipline construction and the 13th Five Year Plan in No.1 South Building to deepen the meaning of the 13th five year plan and focus on the development orientation of first-class disciplines. In the seminar, Professor Zhou Jie, head of the department of automation in Tsinghua University, Professor Tang Lixin, dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering in Northeastern University, Professor Chen Weidong, head of the department of automation in Shanghai Jiao Tong University are invited to do thematic reports. Attending the seminar are professor Shao Xinyu, managing vice president of HUST and Zhao Zhongyu, office director of discipline construction. The seminar is presided over Cao Zhiguo, dean of the school of automation and more than one hundred people including teachers and student representatives take part in the meeting.
President Shao Xinyu extends warm welcome and sincere thanks for the guidance of the leaders from the three universities. He points out that Tsinghua University, Northeastern University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have made significant achievements in discipline construction and that there is a need for our further study in first-class discipline construction. School of Automation has made prominent contributions to the discipline development of our school. Especially, it has been three years since the foundation of the School and great achievements have been made in personnel training, teaching staff construction and scientific research. It is hoped that the School can further conclude development experience and do well in the 13th Five Year Plan through the experience from other universities and brainstorming from all teachers and students of the School. Besides, comprehensive reform should be deepened and great efforts should be made to build the first-class discipline in control science and engineering.
Professor Zhou, Professor Tang and Professor Chen give a report respectively in the seminar. They introduce the development of disciplines represented by themselves, especially making an introduction to the 13th Five Year Plan and comprehensive reform and many results and the way of management attract participants’ attention. During the reports, Secretary of CPC General Branch of the School Zhang Yao and assistant dean Chen Anwen, who is in charge of graduate culturing make exchanges with guests on comprehensive reform and graduate culturing.
Director of discipline office Zhao Zhongyu thinks highly of the discipline development of the three universities. Meanwhile, he indicates that in the important period of disciplinary assessment mutual exhanges and study are worth valuing. He hopes that School of Automation can draw precious experience of other universities from the seminar to further promote the development in the discipline of control science and engineering.
